Akito Kitamura was born in the northern parts of Japan, had little trauma in his past, is not a part of any strange organization or supernatural occurrences, and is not a wanted criminal of any sort. At the moment.
The fact that he has powered armor and high level tech hardware skills anyways probably means that he's just kinda weird.

Appearance - Akito... well, he's really a pretty normal looking guy, his appearance being the least distinctive thing about him most of the time. He's got the same dark shiny hair (cut short, spiked, sometimes with tips dyed) and narrow, dark eyes of your average Japanese man - if anything, making him more distinctive in the 'melting pot' of MegaTokyo. He does have a fairly lean, toned body, and as attractiveness goes would probably rate above average, but anything relating to this is either genetic or gotten from trying to be a sort-of superhero.
As far as clothing, he'll try to look cool with long coats and dark pince-nez sunglasses on duty, but he usually just wears light colored blue jeans, plain t-shirts, sneakers, and maybe a blazer if it's chilly out.
His armor... would best be described as the unholy fusion of Iron Man, a Kamen Rider, and a Zaku.
Background
Akito Kitamura is from a small, rural town in northern Japan, third child of five, with two middle class parents. For the first eleven years of his life, he was a perfectly average kid in hobbies, talents, and interests.
Then he read an Iron Man comic book and got it in his head that he wanted to do that too, and at the age of eleven he built a suit of powered armor out of a pile of scraps (but in his basement instead of a cave). Illogically, it actually worked, and he proceeded to tromp around town in the thing until he realized that he was scaring people and hid the thing. Fortunately, there was a big city not too far, and his parents were the sort to let kids have their hobbies in peace, so he made trips there and found other people that had... well, weird things. A few of them were even criminals! So he beat them up and took their stuff and added it to his own arsenal.
He continued on like this throughout his school years - being your average every day high school snarky kid during the day, and bashing trouble makers in mechs in his time off (along with some high school kendo), including your usual mixed results at romance. Along the way, he took an eclectic mix of martial arts, since hey, why not? ("Why not?" is practically his motto at this point).
Then he graduated high school, and went from "high school superhero" to "marginally employed still living with his parents superhero" which is not anywhere near as cool. By now, though, he'd heard about MegaTokyo online, and figured hey, with all that craziness, maybe being a guy with powered armor could actually land him a paying job! So he packed up and left for a rented apartment with enough room to store and maintain his armor. And that's where we pick up in the threads...
Affiliations
Akito holds respect for the factions of MegaTokyo. Largo in particular is someone who he identifies with. However, he also realized how insane the factions can get and decided to stay out of the way unless it was landing him a job or one of them decided to bother him... or did... anything to get his attention, really.
Personality
"Laid back" is probably the best way to describe Akito. Sarcastic too. He's generally quipping at people while being lazy most of the time, though he does in fact like helping people out of tight spots. The rest of the time, he's going with the flow or acting on his sometimes odd ideas.
He's also an avid TVTroper, and will relate tropes to things happening around him - often out loud and to the frustration of his peers. He is, accordingly, a mild otaku, with extra interest in select American comics and mecha.
On the other hand, his sense with the opposite gender is fairly... weak. He's not oblivious like some, but he's never been very charming or romantic. The only girlfriends he's had for any length of time have been the few who appreciated his sense of humor and techiness.
In battle... yeah, he's really the same thing, right up to Troping out loud. In fact, he's probably won more fights by making the opponent angry than by any real skill, at least when he started out.
The Armor (and other talents)
Akito... first of all, has totally neglected to figure out either a superhero name or a name for his powered armor, and if asked about who he is will simply say his real name, and that this is his powered armor. He's flirted with fancy names on occasion, but never settled on one.
The armor itself is the bulk of Akito's fighting ability. It augments his strength, speed, and stamina considerably - he can flip an M1 Abrams one-handed, and outrun and withstand a shell from said Abrams, all with relative ease. His flight capabilities provide his greatest mobility, allowing for high-end subsonic flight speeds. These basic augmentations work well with his moderate martial arts training, giving him a fair bit of combat ability without his weapons. The armor's greatest weakness is its power source - Akito only has 1 hr. 17 min. at full power, and it takes around 3 hr. to recharge from a standard outlet. He eventually stole a watch from an opponent that allows him to "transform" from pretty much anywhere by yelling "Henshin!" while pressing a button on it, a feature he hasn't taken the time to mod out yet.
As armaments go, he has only a few.
Plasma Whips - One on the bottom of each wrist that can extend to around 15 feet and cut through most things. Not the most precise weapon, generally employed for overwhelming more dangerous foes.
Shoulder Rifle - Fairly self-explanatory, Akito stuck a foldaway assault rifle to his armor's left shoulder. Good for soft targets or shooting down missiles.
Missiles - Missiles of a variety of types, both homemade and 'borrowed' from outside sources. Launched from a small wing behind the right shoulder, he can carry up to six at a time.
Magnum Fist - The only flashy name Akito ever settled on. His hand glows with an awesome power, and then he punches you and you pretty much explode from the energy being poured into you. By far his most powerful ability, it drains about 20 min. worth of power from his batteries.
Other Talents - Akito is, as mentioned, a competent martial artists and swordsman. His technological hardware skills are superb; his software skills are terrible, unfortunately, and he suffers from the odd glitch or bevy of internet spam while using his armor sometimes. He can cook well enough to not have to eat out or buy instant all the time, and has no tolerance for alcohol. He's marginally athletic, but don't ask him to run a marathon. He's got no talent for drawn art or music, though he could probably sculpt given the time and motivation.
He also has the rare ability to speak in front of a large crowd without passing out, a talent gone to waste at the moment.
