Help:How to contribute
From TCWiki
The first thing you should do is read the Recommended Rules page. This will help keep people from stepping on toes. You should also read Editing to learn about the formatting codes used on this wiki; the sections on bold and italics and internal links are especially useful.
TCWiki does not allow anonymous edits, so you'll need to create an account or log in before continuing.

Not a normal wiki
Most wikis are completely free environments, where nobody really owns anything, and anybody can edit whatever they want. TCWiki isn't like that; specifically, creative stories have their authors, and nobody else (besides sysops) is allowed to edit them. This isn't enforced by the software; it's simply a matter of courtesy. Keep this in mind when editing.
On the other hand, other articles (such as character profiles and summaries) are open to editing by anybody, just like other wikis.
Commenting on a story
Every story (and all other pages) on TCWiki has a "discussion" or "talk" page attached to it. This is the place to give authors feedback on stories, and for multiple authors to coordinate with each other (unless they're doing so off-site). Make sure you sign and date your comments by typing four tildes (~~~~).
Adding a story
To add a new story go to your user page (you can click on your name at the top of the screen) and add a link to your new story, like Title here. (You can use this as an opportunity to add a "My Stories" section to your user page.) Click on the link, then hit Edit at the top of the page and type in or copy your story.
Be sure to include a line like this at the top of your story:
; Author : ~~~
The tildes will be replaced with your name. You may also want to add a link to a story the current one follows:
; Continues : The Miho Files, Part 3
It's okay if the story it follows isn't on TCWiki yet—we can always go back and add things in.
The result will look something like this:
- Author
- TCM
- Continues
- The Miho Files, Part 3
You can add other fields to this header, too. Your story goes below the header; you can add part, chapter, and section breaks by using headings.
Adding a non-story article
Non-story articles should indicate their type via category tags. (see Making Navigation Easier for details on creating categories and using them). There are two approaches:
1. Find an appropriate existing story or article and add a link; for example, change "Draegos" to "Draegos " (You're allowed to edit a link into someone else's story if that's all you do in it.) Then click on that link and start writing.
2. Go to your user page and add a link to the new article there. Follow the link and start writing.
