New Players, new characters, old players returning:
Zeth returned with her new characters Tristan and Archer. Archer's a kid of an AI, in this thread moved into a matching EDS body, with a nack for mischief and trouble. We last saw them hanging out with Mokushi. Zeth wants people to play with her characters. Hint! Hint!
Arella is a new author with characters Arella and Sayuri. Arella's a magical girl come to MegaTokyo to join the Largoists and learn to fight vampires to avenge her parents. She's fallen in with Ash of all people, and keeps running afoul of unholy forces. Something about being a cutecute magical girl makes you extra tastey, apparently. For instance, she and Ash went to go vampire-watching (it's like bird-watching only gothier) and got attacked, leading to Ash's legs getting broken and Arella getting bitten, though they were rescued at the last minute. Sayuri is a dark magician from the imfamous Mikawa family. Well, it's imfamous now even if you've never heard of it before this thread. She's got a biiiig crush on Hikaru, but the sparks haven't started flying between her and Ash over him. Yet.
Sareth's a new author with character named (in time-honored fashion) Sareth. He's fleeing a vampire named Nex Angelorum because he's a forumer military experiment run amok. Ash leads him on a merry chase with Aneko's help. He learns about the city a little from Vavrek. In an effort to lose Nex, he Then he goes to the Rave.
Wolfboy joined the Largoists. He's got some military experience, but is still getting his bearings.
Tanshin is new to the city and looking to improve his weapons.
Hibiki returned, bringing the Temple of Ping back with him. PM TheGreatHibiki about joinage. *plots to steal his swirly avatar of DOOM*
Kyto (author Eyolo) is an old acquaintance from Ash's past, come back to the city. He tried to get in contact with her but was thwarted by her shocking ability to injure herself.
Connor is an illusionist who, needing money, has started working at the OCSB. Written by Vavrek.
Anaryn is weird sorta-vampire-sorta-creature who runs a laundromat called "All the Perfumes of Arabia" in the Hollows, MegaTokyo's vampire and undead district. Nicholas is a vampire hunter she's decided to follow around, as he usually leads her to people who need her... help.
A couple new authors tried single posts and then disappeared. Arrekesu, for instance. Also dgco/reag (yes that's an account name/character name), Trisk/Adam. Kawaii Neko played with a bunch of NPCs and then disappeared. Likewise Darktan. Fenrix returned for two posts and then lurkinated.
Politics:
Arella, Wolfboy, Charles Embers (still in progress pending authors actually writing something), Mahou (as a guest Piroist) are all joining the Largoists. Mahou got split into two personalities-- Mitsuya maintains control over the Legion and Mahou got kicked out. Also Westly used paperwork foo to work on refounding KOBL without leaving the FGTL (on paper, anyway). Join the Largoists. All the cool people are doing it.
An abortive dungeon crawl:
Fish, Ash, Natsumi, Skorpion, and Theresa go exploring a random dungeon. But then Fish's author goes to Japan and so they are left there in plot limbo forever. Suckers should've known better.
More on the Shadow Mages:
Ash is given the Book of Shadows, a sacred tome of the Shadow Mages, by a shadow mage defector named Karl. Fearing it is tainted in some way, she recruits Shiri'janta and Laura to give it a look. They don't find much-- the book is extremely vague--, but when they're finished, they agree to look into the matter further. Karl is then killed by Marius. Ash reanimates his corpse secretly, but her interrogation is interrupted by the evil necromancer Tallic. Karl's fresh corpse is currently in storage someplace in the FGTL basements, waiting for BozoCat to get off his lazy ass and write a post about that part. Laura and Shiri go to question some of the darker people Laura knows of (i.e. vampires) to try to get additional leads on the shadow mages, but only succeed in traumatizing Arella, who gets attacked by one of the vampires they're questioning. Again. Marius, the fallen angel the Shadow Mages worship, manifests in Andrew once for Mahou and once for Arella.
The return of the Cave of Evil:
The comic location that had been destroyed with the Church of Miho (having been at some point in its first floor) is rebuilt, paid for courtesy of Vavrek. It has an inaugural Rave, and nearly every PC in the game attends. Ash spots Sareth and starts bringing him into the Largoist fold. There is a dance-off. There is schmoozing. There is a long line to get in.
Troubles with the law:
Shiri'janta and William Vavrek rob a bank and make fun of Ocean's 11. And other movies which, since I haven't seen them, aren't as important. Matt and Erden had post-canon-thread jail oriented hijinks. Ash plotted to get herself arrested and then break out so that she could frame Jonathan Grey for being incompetent. But since Arsenal hasn't been seen in about a month, that subplot went on hold.
Jubai Has Many NPCs:
Hikaru's mother Murasaki shows up, makes him uncomfortable, talks to Ash, makes her uncomfortable. She's hanging out at the LDG mansion for the time being. Also she pushes Hikaru to do something about his evil sister Shiori, which he does, killing everyone she cares about and then finally her, but becoming badly injured in the process. Sayuri and Murasaki save him. Ash is about to tell Hikaru he was bad for killing people that she didn't think deserved to die, but was distracted by cute injured bishies. For cute injured bishies are very distracting to Ashes, yes they are.
Speaking of which, Ash goes to Allanon and gets a checkup to learn whether or not she can have children. This is definitely not because Murasaki is making her think about whether she's good marriage material. Honest. And Hikaru asks some folks for dating advice for asking Ash out, which leads to dinner and a movie, and also a flying lesson.
Other, smaller matters:
Mokushi meets with Tallic to start planning the scheduled demon invasion for the next hard-canon thread, and decides he needs a therapist.
Tak is gradually drifting away from N1NJ4. The dojo is moved to a parallel reality via phase shift so that it can't be mucked with. Tak plans to form his own ninja group dedicated to protecting Aneko. This does not leave other people who know Tak amused.
Random silliness:
Unicorns try to run a protection racket at Erika Multinational. Sputnik learns that Ameryll is a character from an RPG he wrote, which crashes his brain. He hits his head and forgets it ever happened. Lenore hangs out a lot with Aneko, going to Kyoto to hang out with her, revealing gangster past, and playing baseball. The c00l th1ng has a duck living in it, named Reginald. I'm not making this up.
