Preferred Weapons:
High powered rifles with scope. Personal favorite: Dragunov SVD, but anything will do in a pinch. Has a special pistol manufactured by Erika Multinational. Has training in the repair and use of U.S. Helicopter weapons, specializing in the M230 30mm chaingun (Which, coincidentally, the FGTL uses. He probably does maintenance on them, but we've never actually seen him be that useful). Also fond of Neko Yuri grenades, even though these distract him more than his opponents. God only knows where these came from.
Appearance and Distinctive Attire:
5'8" brown hair and eyes, goatee. Most common outfit: Jeans, button down shirt, both dark in coloration. Combat boots. Flight jacket with dragon on the back and words "IDARNG" over top, "Aviation" below. Occasionally seen dressing up, and supposedly cleans up well, but not to the level of Bishie. Sareth's back is a mass of scars, including two large ones where Saeko's wings had once been torn out of her back while they still shared a body.
In "Of B33r and Ph34r" he spends much of the thread in a somewhat abused tuxedo.
Special Abilities:
Seems generally to be remarkably unskilled. It seems his only true talent is somehow surviving everything thrown at him. Sareth had once had access to Saeko's powers, but no longer possesses these.
Weakness:
Catgirls, Loli, Yuri, booze, and his inability to speak any Japanese. Seemingly clueless about what he is walking into. Excessive pride can cause him to back himself into corners with remarkable skill. Paranoia to rediculous extremes. Tendancy to get bored, and to resolve that boredom in ways that cause property damage. Poor skills with a Play Station, to the dismay of his fellow Largoists. Questionable morals and reliability. Has serious authority issues.

Connections:
Anaryn: His tailor, in spite of the fact he knows she's a vampire. Actually used her to try to summon a demon, and got an angel instead.
Aneko: Finds her simultaniously intriguing and sexy, yet at the same time frightening, creepy, and cold.
Arella: Followed her all the way from the States. Ash attempted to make Sareth Arella's protector. Sareth gave her half truths about the situation involving Magical Girls and the U.S. Military, then hatched a plan to use her as bait to lure Nex and Nex' master out. Ash talked him out of it. Since then they have been fellow Largoists.
Ash (Kimura Aiko): Ash is attempting to convert him to Largoism. He listens so he can stare cause, face it, Ash is hot. He flirts with her just like he does with anything that has breasts, but in her case he seems to actually mean it. Recently he has actually started courting her, though he's not very good at acting like an actual gentleman.
Casey: Asked advice of on how to woo Ash. He got it, but not before causing teh 4wkw4rd.
Cassandra: Sareth's cat/familiar/pet/daughter. Yeah, we're not sure exactly either. But he seems fond of her.
Fumiko: Transvestite Geisha Sareth once hired as part of his war against Strider. Sareth thought it was funny as hell...
Inari: Has spoken with at least once (about Kit), though whether this was a vision or just a dream kami only knows.
Junko: Punching bag for. He deserves it. Seriously.
Keith: FGTLs Barkeeper. Has a gay crush on Sareth. Sareth doesn't seem to mind, though he's honest with Keith about his not being interested. (NPC)
Kender: Sareth is one of Kender's clients via the CEA. He clearly doesn't seem to think he needs a concience, especially one with a drinking problem and personal issues, but he's less rude about it than he could be. She can rile him, however, just by implying he suffers from gender confusion and enjoys Keith's attention.
Kit: Contractor for. He also has shown a more personal interest, even going so far as to sleep with Kit, though this may have been a slap at Saeko. However, he has stolen from Kit and thinks he got away with it. Kit, however, knows.
Largo: Got to witness his newest faction member get pwned by Junko. Clearly, Largo was not impressed.
Laura: Had a conversation with that started out friendly, but cooled as the two began showing signs of distrust and dislike towards one another. Laura appears to view Sareth as why Saeko has issues.
Lazyass: Purported leader of Sareth, Sareth's attitude problems are a real headache for Andrew. The fact they are romantic rivals for Ash does not help in the least.
Lucius: Lucius' transformation to a catboy is due, in part, to Sareth's Neko Yuri grenades falling into the wrong hands. Skorp's hands, to be precise. Sareth found Lucius' public stripping and soaking of Saeko in sub freezing weather funny as hell.
Mahou: Recieved doctoring by, both of the body and the soul. Seems determined to be a friend to her whether she likes it or not. Revealed to her Saeko's interest in Shiri during his H4ll of B33r experience under the belief Mahou was just a vision or delusion and not actually there (only to discover she was quite real). Mahou seems to be the one person Sareth can talk to honestly. However he seems able to insult her unintentionally with ugly frequency.
Masaru: Sareth is on Lt. Masaru's list of people to watch and if possible aprehend for the U.S. Government. The one time they've met, they spent all their time trying to out-secret agent one another. James Bond would not have been impressed.
James Coffin: Former victim of the same program that was experimenting on Sareth. Attempted to protect Ash to protect her from being kidnapped by worse people. Sareth initially accused him of the successful kidnapping of Ash, but believed Coffin when he came clean with the facts.
Michel Wheeler: Sareth once messed with Michel, expressing doubt the Olympic Shooter could shoot when it really counted.
Miho: Once commented he restored her faith in the "Arogant American" stereotype.
Nex : (Deceased) Vampiress and former lover. Was sent by the Army to get Sareth back, but showed a great deal of latitude in executing those orders. Meetings between the two tended to carry a heat that had little to do with a desire to kill one another. Depending on how you interpret it, he can be viewed as having fathered a demon with her, Cassandra. Ultimately, in a confrontation that never was written, Sareth and Cassandra killed Nex and her master.
Nicholas Summers: Got into a pissing contest with over the idea of Anaryn summoning a demon for him. They both ended up remarkably embarassed and awkward over it.
Sable Princess Saeko: See Saeko.
Saeko: At one time, Sareth and Saeko were the same person. However, after the combination of Onsen Water and U.S. Military genetic manipulation unlocked Saeko and spawned a war of control between them, Kit wound up splitting the two for their mutual safety. Saeko could be viewed as Sareth's sister or daughter, but the two don't acknowledge one another. Currently an uneasy truce is in place between them. They hate each other's guts.
Seraphim: Once tried to tell Sareth off for staring at teen girls. Junko ran her off.
Shama: Former demon lover of Ash. Sareth summoned him to try to help locate Ash, expecting to have to match a demon in a battle of wits, and instead got a clumsy, ham fisted and awkward angel of smity doom.
Shiri'janta: (deceased. Maybe?) Shiri actually seemed sympathetic to Sareth, but with Shiri, you never can quite tell. During his experience with the H4ll of B33r, Sareth was very disturbed at seeing Shiri amongst those he was supposed to have strong feelings for. He attributed this to Saeko's fascination (both mental and physical) with Shiri. The two drank together on occasion, though they were not particularly close. Saeko used Shiri as part of her vengance on Sareth. What he thinks of this hasn't been revealed.
Simone: Tried to seduce Sareth once as part of Sareth and Striders wierd little war. (See Strider.)
Skorpion: They drink together, pick on n00bs together, and harass the navy together. Sareth seems to have more respect for Skorpion than any other members of the FGTL leadership, however, that does not equate to actual obedience. Sareth doesn't trust Skorp's equipment to not rat out whenever he's up to something. And since he's always up to something... Skorp seems to know better than to trust Sareth.
Strider: Sareth and Strider seem to be having one of the wierdest personal wars going on, where each seems determined to snap the other one's sanity first through the use of sexual harassment, transexuality, and booze. Lots and lots of booze. Not only are we not sure who is winning, we're not sure anyone CAN win. Including the readers.
Steve: (deceased) Mysterious data hacker that was always a phone call away. Died while hacking the Pentagon mainframe to get Sareth information needed to kill Nex. (NPC)
Vavrek: Occasional source of local information who did him a good turn once. Has started trying to convince Sareth that the LDG may be a better fit for him than the FGTL. For a time they were drinking buddies (along with Shiri). However, after Sareth abused Saeko and joined the FGTL, Will seems to have started distancing himself, even expressing to Laura a sentiment implying Will vies Sareth as a lost cause, and is cutting his losses. Since he left the city for a time and then returned, Sareth and Will haven't encountered one another. Given that Will seems to not recall Saeko, we don't know if he recalls Sareth either.
Wolfboy: Has spent time drinking with. Has also more or less refused to take friendly suggestions from. Have we mentioned Sareth has authority issues?
Wraith Umbra: Has spent time drinking with and complaining about Saeko to.
Backstory:
NAME: James Micheal Hinton (A.K.A.) Sareth
DOB: 8 FEB 1973 Fairfield CA.
EDUCATION: College, Northwest Nazarene University, no degree.
MILITARY CAREER: Enrolled 18 FEB 1998 Kansas City MEPS.
BASIC TRAINING: Ft. Jackson.
AIT: Ft. Eustis.
MOS: 15X Aircraft Armament Repairman
RANK: Staff Sergeant.
Mobilizations: SFOR 12 (Bosnia) 2002-2003, OEF 4 (Afghanistan) 2003-2004, OEF 7 (Afganistan) 2006 - *SEE STATUS ENTRY BELOW*

The Real Backstory:
All of the above is true up until the MIA tag. The truth is Sareth was wounded in action 2 July 2006 in Afghanistan. Up until that point he'd been a normal army grunt, known only for his issues with authority. On that date, however, he received injuries from an attack on a tiny Forward Operating Base in Afghanistan. Medics on scene were able to stabilize him, saving his life, and he was evacuated to Walter Reed, MD. There the extent of his injuries were brought to light, and Sareth fell into the hands of Aberdeen Proving Ground, or as they are properly known, the United States Army Test and Evaluation Command. All records of him following the attack were eliminated, and he is currently listed as MIA.
In the hands of TECOM, Sareth was patched back together using highly experimental technology meant to give soldiers many of the skills inherent to Anime. (Project Homunculus) These experiments were a complete failure. Not only did Sareth not gain any skills of an Anime type (except remarkable imperviousness to damage, something the military failed to notice during their experiments) but the damage to his back which first made him a candidate for experimentation was never fully healed. Sareth's already bad attitude was worsened by his treatment, and his loyalty to the military badly degraded. Eventually he was removed from the program and essentially placed in lock down. Recently he escaped from the lab that had been his home/prison for months. During his escape he raided several of the labs. What he stole, and what he learned is unknown, but he is currently on the Government's Super-secret Shoot to Kill lists.
Current Events
Of B33r and Ph34r: Aware of Ash being kidnapped he's gone rogue. He contacted the FGTL long enough to let them know that Ash has been taken, then destroyed his phone to make it harder for the FGTL leadership to recall him and make hime work with the FGTL fighting the demons instead of chasing after Ash. He has since stolen a book from the LDG, irritated Nicholas, gotten Anaryn toasty, and summoned a demon that turned out to be an angel.
