Threads: Everything since A New Confusion in MegaTokyo Episode 4

Huzzah! I have written out a history. It's a lot longer than I like, but that's what I get for violating that "Don't come in with a five page backstory" rule SO HARD. So very hard. His history after actually showing up in thread comes next. There's also formatting now! So it looks good. Vavrek 19:39, 5 Jun 2008 (PDT)

Basic data

  • Name: William Antonio Vavrek. "My friends call me Will. You can call me Mr. Vavrek."
  • Age: ~33, 34.
  • Date of Birth: February 2nd, 1972. (No, this number doesn't make sense with his age, so it's unofficial. The Age applies in tC, the DOB elsewhere.)
  • Height: 6'2" (188cm).
  • Build: Medium, lean muscular. Looks like he'd be 185lbs (84kg).
  • Eyes: Absurdly bright green (normally) or glowing orange (...not normal.)
  • Hair: Reddish brown, some kind of professional businessman's cut.
  • Skin tone: Mediterranean, a "natural tan" which can be mistaken for the real thing. (Totally incongruous with his hair and eyes.)

Ancient History

Life before the Clans

Will grew up in San Francisco, an only child. His parents didn't know exactly how a child was supposed to be raised, but neither did he, so he accepted what he got: Regular music lessons, occasional church going, the study of Latin outside of school and Spanish within it. Some time during High School, his father passed on the talent of driving like a maniac and not dying.

At 17, he finished High School, toured the country, and began taking classes at the University of Washington, in Seattle. Five years later, including one year studying in Berlin, he graduated with a triple major: Criminal Science, Computer Engineering, and Neuroscience. Very swiftly, he was recruited by [REDACTED] and, after a short while in their programming corps, was offered a very secret and very high paying job in a different section of the corporation.

During his time with Special Operations Command, Will often acted as a negotiator or diplomat figure, attempting to barter a better situation for his employers while allowing others to stand nearby if a threat of violence was needed for the negotiation. His mentor Joseph, however, made sure that Will was at least reasonably skilled in combat situations and Will developed a proficiency with pistols.

After the death of Will's fiance Rebecca and his subsequent breakdown, involving the massacre of a Colombian drug cartel, Will and the team he led began performing more combat oriented missions. As time went on, his superiors began to see Will as more and more of a self destructive loose cannon. This was a perfectly accurate assessment.

To deal with this issue, Will's employers shipped him off to Japan. There were a couple ways it could go, they thought: Either he would take to the environment like a duck to water or he would die a fast, messy death far from home and no longer endanger their valuable assets (His subordinates in his team.) Of course, Will took a third option.

After Will's third option resulted in his almost-death and his certain-dismemberment, he convinced his employers of his loyalty once more and designed a suite of cybernetic, nanomechanical, and biological augmentations which would restore his body and give him the kind of edge needed to survive in MegaTokyo.

Will then promptly resigned and joined the Church of Miho. Because of which faction he had joined and because of how potent an enemy he could be, Will's former employers never tried to attack him. An understanding was reached. Will would not reveal who he had worked for and what secrets he could use against them, so long as they did not reveal who he had worked for.

Subsequently, Will spent around a year or so at the Church of Miho, hanging out. Slept in the on-site barracks, drank from the on-site bar, and occasionally ate. He left the city shortly before the Church of Miho exploded to visit his friends in Berlin.
